Fog and light shafts in Blender, set up in one click
Atmos builds the fog volume, aims the sun at the lens and warns you before a render gets slow. Five presets: morning haze, forest god rays, dusty interior, night fog and underwater.
- NOMINAL Runs in Blender on your computer
- READY Remove puts your scene back

What it does
Fits the fog to your scene
Fits the fog box to your geometry and the camera, with faded edges so you never see a wall. Move things and press Fit to scene again.
Aims the sun
Aims your sun (or adds one) toward the lens, because shafts only show when the light shines at the camera. Remove puts your sun back exactly as it was.
Fast and Quality
One switch for Eevee and Cycles. Remove restores your own render settings.
Warns before a slow render
A box that is too big, a camera outside the fog, fog dense enough to go opaque, Cycles denoising turned off, heavy Eevee volume settings and a sun behind the camera.
Remove deletes what it made
Object, mesh, material, light and node-group counts go back to what they were.
Open for your changes
The panel gives you density, colour, shaft focus and dust size. Everything else is ordinary geometry nodes and materials on ATMOS_Fog and ATMOS_Motes.
Who it is for
- Blender artists who want fog or light shafts without building the volume setup by hand.
- Anyone who wants to know before rendering that a setting will be slow.
Honest limits
- For good beams, put trees, pillars, window frames or a ceiling with gaps between the sun and the camera. Open ground gives haze but no shafts.
- One fog box, so there is no smoke, cloud or explosion library.
- Dust is drawn as small points: fine for atmosphere, not for close-ups.
- Cycles gives cleaner shafts and needs more samples. Eevee is quick and softer.
- Tested on Blender 4.2.x only. Other versions are untested.
- Not affiliated with the Blender Foundation.
