See what each way of paying off debt costs you
List up to 8 debts and your total monthly payment. The planner works out, month by month, how long Snowball and Avalanche take, the total interest, your debt-free date and what you save compared with paying only the minimums.

- READY Excel .xlsx, no macros

What it does
Three plans side by side
Months, debt-free date, total interest and total paid for Snowball (smallest balance first), Avalanche (highest rate first) and minimum-only, with interest and months saved against the minimums.
Up to 8 debts
Enter balance, APR and minimum payment for each. The payoff order is worked out for you, and the month each debt is cleared is shown under each strategy.
A monthly budget
Planned against actual income and spending, the difference per category, share of income, a chart and a suggested extra payment toward debt.
Every number checkable
Snowball, Avalanche and Minimum Only sheets hold the full month-by-month working for 180 months.
Who it is for
- People paying off several debts who want to compare Snowball and Avalanche.
- Anyone who wants to see a debt-free date and the interest saved before choosing a plan.
- People who would rather own a spreadsheet than pay a subscription.
Honest limits
- Interest is balance x APR / 12 each month, rounded to cents. Real lenders may compound daily or round differently, so dates and interest are close estimates, not statements.
- It assumes fixed rates, no new borrowing and the same total payment every month.
- It is a calculator, not financial advice.
- The formulas were recalculated in LibreOffice with no error values and checked against a separate Python calculation. It has not been opened in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, which can import the .xlsx file; check your own copy after import.
Details
- Included: An example workbook with realistic sample data, a blank copy, a README with set-up steps and the limits.
