Keep a prop firm challenge inside its loss limits
PropGuard checks your account equity on every tick. It shows an alert at 70% of the allowance, blocks new trading at 90% and closes all positions at the limit. It never opens, adds to or reverses a trade.
- CAUT Risk tool, not financial advice
- READY MetaTrader 5, no DLLs, no web requests

What it does
Daily loss and max drawdown
Reads equity (balance plus floating profit and loss, swaps and commissions as your broker reports them) and works out both floors from the preset you pick.
Alert, block, close
At 70% of the allowance it shows an alert. At 90% it blocks new trading. At the limit it closes all positions and deletes pending orders. Each floor sits a safety margin above the firm's limit (default 0.20% of the starting balance), so it acts first.
Presets for five firms
FTMO (2-Step, 1-Step, Instant), FundedNext Stellar (2-Step, 1-Step), Blue Guardian (1-Step, 2-Step), E8 (One, Pro), The5ers (High Stakes, Hyper Growth) and Custom. The numbers were read from each firm's public rules pages on 2026-10-28. Firms change their rules, so check yours and use Custom if it differs.
One card on the chart
A small card in the top-left corner shows a status word (SAFE, CLOSE TO LIMIT or BLOCKED), a bar of how much room is left, the amount left today and the time to the next daily reset. You can turn it off.
Locks and restarts
After a breach it stays locked. A daily lock lifts at the next firm reset; a max drawdown lock stays until you clear it in the inputs. State is saved in the terminal, so a restart mid-day picks up where it left off.
Your reset clock
The daily reset can follow the firm's clock, with its own timezone and daylight saving, or your broker's server clock.
Who it is for
- Traders on a prop firm challenge who trade in MetaTrader 5 and want their loss limits enforced on the account.
- Anyone who wants positions closed before a daily or total limit is reached, using the firm's own numbers.
Honest limits
- This is a risk tool, not financial advice. Nothing in it predicts or improves your results; it enforces limits you chose.
- It cannot prevent slippage, a weekend gap, a broker freeze or a stopped terminal. If price jumps through your limit before PropGuard sees a tick, the loss has already happened.
- An Expert Advisor cannot veto an order before it is sent. PropGuard removes new pending orders and closes any new or larger position right after it appears, usually within a tick. For a moment that position can exist.
- It does not work if the terminal is closed, the computer sleeps or the connection drops.
- It does not model consistency rules, news restrictions or minimum trading days. Written for hedging accounts; netting accounts are untested.
- It has been run on a demo account only, never on a funded or prop-firm account. Try it with a small position on your own demo account first.
- Not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the firms named.
